However, this may have simply been a psychological difference and not reflect actual pacing (I didn’t exactly take the time to take measurements). It seemed like cut scenes were interspersed much more often than usual-perhaps too often. Perhaps my only complaint concerning the new single player content, if there's one to be had, is the cut scenes. All of it went off without any drama, providing some standardly fabulous Gears gameplay.
After playing for about 3 or 4 hours I reached the all-familiar train and had completed my experience of the new content.
As such, the keyboard and mouse works exceptionally well, to the point where you likely won't feel compelled to plug a Xbox 360 controller into your USB a port. It felt natural to use the space bar to roadie run and gain cover, and with aid of the pop-up HUD elements it also became natural to press "E" to interact with the environment and pick up items. Indeed, I found it significantly easier to aim and was able to pick up the change in controls with ease. As most of you no doubt already know, the controller works exceptionally well, but being a long-time PC gamers I've always preferred the mouse for its superior precision. I was curious to see how a keyboard and mouse would play when compared to my familiarity with the Xbox 360 controller. It begins with a quick cut scene before the standard Locust-killing ways.
In my eagerness to get down to the goods I exploited the ability to begin the campaign at the new chapters, getting directly into the new content. Having already experienced more than an excessive amount of Gears already my strategy in addressing the game was effectively to treat it as an expansion to the Xbox 360 version.
Of course, the PC version of Gears is no mere port-it includes the addition of five entirely new chapters that features the rather bulky Brumak. I’ve had the good fortune of having been graced with an early copy of Gears of war for PC.
